This policy explains how Your Practice Test ("we", "us") handles personal information when you use yourpracticetest.com (the "Service"). It applies to your account, your purchases, and your activity on our practice tests.
The short version. We collect the minimum needed to run your account and your practice tests. We do not sell your information, we do not share it for advertising, and we do not use analytics or advertising trackers of any kind. We never see or store your full card number.
1. Information We Collect
Information you give us
| What | When | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Your name | Signup | To address you in the app and in email |
| Your email address | Signup | Sign-in, purchase receipts, password reset |
| Your password | Signup | Stored only as a one-way hash — see section 6 |
| Message content | Contact form | To answer your question |
Information created as you use the Service
- Practice test activity — which tests you start and finish, the answers you select, your score, how many questions you got right, how long you spent, and how many times you have taken each test. This is what powers "My Tests", saved progress, and your results screen.
- Purchase records — what you bought, when, whether a subscription is active, and how many attempts remain on a test pack.
- Sign-in security data — failed sign-in counts for your email address, used to temporarily lock an account after repeated wrong passwords.
- Standard server logs — kept by our web server, including IP address, browser type, and pages requested.
2. What We Do Not Collect
- Card numbers. Payment details are entered on Stripe's own checkout page and go directly to Stripe. We receive only a confirmation and a customer reference — never your full card number, expiry, or security code.
- Government identifiers. We do not ask for a Social Security number, driver's licence number, or date of birth.
- Advertising or analytics tracking. The Service runs no Google Analytics, no advertising pixels, no social media trackers, and no third-party cookies.
3. How We Use Information
- To create and operate your account and keep you signed in.
- To save your progress and show your results and history.
- To take payment, grant the access you paid for, and send purchase confirmations.
- To respond when you contact us.
- To keep the Service secure — detecting abuse, limiting repeated failed sign-ins, and investigating problems.
- To meet legal, tax, and accounting obligations.
We do not use your practice test answers or scores for any purpose other than showing them back to you and operating the Service. We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising.
4. Cookies
We use one essential cookie: a session cookie that keeps you signed in as
you move between pages. It is marked HttpOnly and SameSite=Lax, and
is sent only over HTTPS in normal operation. It disappears when your session ends or when
you sign out.
We do not set advertising, analytics, or cross-site tracking cookies. Because we use only a strictly necessary cookie, the Service does not display a cookie consent banner.
5. Who We Share Information With
We share information only with the service providers needed to run the Service, and only as described here:
| Provider | Purpose | What they receive |
|---|---|---|
| Stripe | Payment processing and subscription billing | Your email, your payment details (entered directly with them), and purchase amounts. Stripe handles this under its own privacy policy. |
| Amazon Web Services | Website hosting, database storage, and sending our email | All Service data is stored on AWS infrastructure; outgoing email passes through Amazon SES. |
| Google Fonts | Loading the site's typefaces | Your browser requests font files from Google's servers, which means Google receives your IP address and browser details. No account information is sent. |
We may also disclose information if required by law, to enforce our Terms of Service, or to protect the rights and safety of our users or the public. If the business is ever sold or transferred, account information may transfer with it.
6. How We Protect Information
- Passwords are hashed, never stored in readable form. We cannot see your password, and nobody at our end can tell you what it is — a reset is the only route.
- Traffic to the Service is encrypted with HTTPS.
- Repeated failed sign-in attempts temporarily lock an account.
- Access to the database and admin tools is restricted to authorised administrators.
No system is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. Please use a strong, unique password and tell us promptly if you think your account has been accessed without permission.
7. How Long We Keep Information
- Account and test history — kept while your account exists, so your scores and progress stay available to you.
- Purchase and payment records — kept as long as needed for tax, accounting, and dispute-resolution purposes, typically several years, even after an account is closed.
- Server logs — kept for a short period for security and troubleshooting.
8. Your Choices and Rights
You can:
- See and correct the account details we hold about you.
- Get a copy of the information we hold about you.
- Delete your account and the personal information associated with it, subject to records we must keep for tax and accounting.
- Cancel a subscription at any time from your plan page.
To make a request, contact us from the email address on your account, or email contact-us@yourpracticetest.com. We will respond within a reasonable period, and we will not treat you differently for exercising any of these rights.
Depending on where you live — for example California, or other states with comprehensive privacy laws — you may have additional statutory rights, including the right to know what is collected and the right to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information. We do not sell or share personal information, so there is nothing to opt out of, but you are welcome to exercise any of the rights above.
9. Children's Privacy
Some of our material — driver's licence practice tests in particular — is studied by teenagers. The Service is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child under 13 has created an account, tell us and we will delete it.
If you are under 18, please review these terms with a parent or guardian, and have them make any purchase on your behalf.
10. Where Information Is Stored
The Service is operated from the United States and information is stored there. If you use the Service from outside the United States, you understand that your information is transferred to and processed in the United States, where privacy laws may differ from those where you live.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy as the Service changes. The "last updated" date above will change when we do, and material changes will be announced on the Service. Continued use after an update means you accept the revised policy.
12. Contact
